School Activities

Activity: Oceanic Educommunication - Boat trip to watch the marine life and exchange experiences

Implementation of the activity: We went out for a boat trip with 17 participants in the age group of 9 to 58 years old, among them 11 from the Jovem Mar Noronha (Youth of the Sea) group. The duration was 4 hours and the objective was to observe ocean life, mainly from resident species such as the spinner dolphin and the birds that nest in the archipelago and are threatened with extinction. We also aim to stimulate oceanic culture because of the proclamation of the UN Decade of Ocean Science, from 2021 to 2030. The students shared their knowledge, experiences and challenges of the Archipelago Fernando de Noronha with Bruno Maia, who in turn also shared the experiences and challenges of the students of the Swarovski Waterschool worldwide. The exchange was very positive and enriching. Even because the water cycle starts in the ocean and however far the rivers seem to be from the ocean, both are part of the same and single fundamental cycle for life on Earth.

Implemented by: The Golfinho Rotador Project was born on August 23, 1990, from a passion for dolphins, the sea, the ocean and Fernando de Noronha. The Golfinho Rotador Project team and its partners have a lot to celebrate, as we are one of the largest dolphin conservation projects of the world, in duration, results and achievements with recognition in Brazil and abroad, being considered a PPELD (Long Term Ecological Research Program). To know more about the Project: website: www.golfinhorotador.org.br, Insta: golfinhorotador, Facebook: Projeto Golfinho Rotador, Youtube: ProjetoGolfinhoRotador, Podcast: Golfinhos de Noronha.

One of the most important and rewarding actions of the Golfinho Rotador Project is to work with youth on the only oceanic insular community area of Brazil, which through contact with the activities of research, conservation, education and sustainable development acquire knowledge and skills that help open their personal and professional horizons and to be aware and active citizens. Often throughout the year, we carry out field trips with the group Jovem Mar Noronha with a series of activities aiming a greater integration with the ocean environment to strengthen the potential of young participants in building a better world, where they are the protagonists, multipliers and guardians of the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, which holds the title UNESCO Natural Heritage Site.
