Activity implemented: Tree planting and access to safe water

  

Implementation of activities at the school: The activities undertaken under the Waterschool environmental education program include:

1. A 30 minute educational session on the importance water and trees using the global teaching and material as a guide by the teacher to trained the pupils on the importance of planting trees and how their positive attitude and interest in afforestation could help save the environment. Pupils were given the opportunity to express themselves about their understanding why planting trees will help save humanity.

2. The teacher led a practical demonstration of planting tree in the school and after which some selected pupils with support from their colleagues planted the remaining seedlings. In total 10 seedlings were planted in and around the school using wood structure to secure and protect it from stray animals from destroying it.

3. Some selected pupils/students were interview and they expressed appreciation and explained what they have learnt  from the program. This has been capture via short video.

4. Pictures of the program on the day were taken showcasing the tree planting activities.

5. Some selected pupils wrote quotes on the activities undertaken which have been captured and documented.

Generally, the one day program was a huge success and has impacted positively on the children as well as beneficial to the school and the community. It attracted interest from parents,teachers,pupils,principal and the entire community.


Facts about the school: The school is located in the East Akim District of the Eastern Region and the community in which the school is located is called Asiakwa.
