School Activities

Activity: Water and School - Planting a school garden

Implementation of activities at the school: We have planted many fruit trees and bananas with the students. It is part of the Regeneration. An empty ground has changed. The swales have been dug with tree seedling planted on top of the swale. Banana plants were planted inside the swale. Lines of bananas inside the swale. Swales have stopped run-off and soil erosion, and have made a big difference holding in water so that the banana plants already are showing signs of growing (after transplanting them a week before it rained. We have planted beans in-between the swales and banana rows.

Other interesting facts about the school: It is a Home and School for orphans - children who lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. The Home is 12 years old as of August 23, 2021. We have children going to primary, high schools (83 students) and vocational skills training school (45 students)

Messages from the ground

"By regenerating this place the kids learn that any space can be reclaimed. Reclaiming is about regenerating a place. By regenarating the environment we learn how to regenerate ourselves. We use nature as our teacher. As the kid regenerate the environment, they also learn they can regenerate their lives so they can create resilience and thriving lives."
